The annual Met Gala is regarded as one of the most significant sartorial fixtures of the year.
On the first Monday of May, A-listers from the worlds of entertainment, politics, fashion and beyond grace the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City for the event.
This year, Lady Gaga, Serena Williams, Harry Styles and Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele have been made co-chairs at the event, alongside Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The theme for the 2019 Met Gala is "Camp: Notes on Fashion", taking inspiration from an essay on the topic penned in 1964 by writer Susan Sontag.

Harry Styles conquered the pink carpet for his first ever appearance at the Met Gala, stunning in a "camp" ensemble designed by Gucci creative director and fellow co-chair Alessandro Michele.
The singer wore a sheer frilled black blouse, trousers and black heeled boots, completing his look with a sole pearl earring.
Some have compared Harry Styles' Met Gala look to Renaissance art.
"Personally I choose to believe that Harry Styles’ outfit is a tribute to Henri III, who had an identical pearl earring and had a famously femme style and was also the favourite child of Catherine de’ Medici," tweeted author Anne Thériault.
Mindy Kaling turned heads at the Met Gala, debuting a long blonde hairstyle on the pink carpet.
The comedian and actor wore a gold Moschino sequinned gown for the occasion, drawing parallels with the gold dress she wore in 2018 heist film Ocean's 8.
Lady Gaga has tweeted several pictures and videos from last night's Met Gala, which captured the dramatic unveiling of her four Brandon Maxwell outfits on the pink carpet.

Model and activist Munroe Bergdorf has praised the Met Gala for this year's theme: "Camp: Notes on Fashion".
"As somebody who grew up being bullied for being 'camp', I'm loving an institution as influential and visual as the #MetGala reintroducing the word to future generations with positivity and inclusivity," Bergdorf wrote on Twitter.
Several celebrities use the Met Gala as an opportunity to turn a red carpet appearance into a performance.
The unveiling of Lady Gaga's four layered Brandon Maxwell outfits was one of the highlights of this year's event.
Fans of Lupita Nyong'o expressed their admiration over her mutli-coloured Met Gala look.
"This is what I imagined my fairy godmother(sister) would look like as a kid," one person tweeted.
"Gorgeous stunning iconic," another added.
