On the first Monday of May, A-listers from the worlds of entertainment, politics, fashion and beyond grace the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City for the event.
This year, Lady Gaga, Serena Williams, Harry Styles and Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele have been made co-chairs at the event, alongside Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The theme for the 2019 Met Gala is "Camp: Notes on Fashion", taking inspiration from an essay on the topic penned in 1964 by writer Susan Sontag.

Harry Styles conquered the pink carpet for his first ever appearance at the Met Gala, stunning in a "camp" ensemble designed by Gucci creative director and fellow co-chair Alessandro Michele.
The singer wore a sheer frilled black blouse, trousers and black heeled boots, completing his look with a sole pearl earring.
Some have compared Harry Styles' Met Gala look to Renaissance art.

Fans of Lupita Nyong'o expressed their admiration over her mutli-coloured Met Gala look.
"This is what I imagined my fairy godmother(sister) would look like as a kid," one person tweeted.
"Gorgeous stunning iconic," another added.
