From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Many of Gaga’s fans were quick to spot the appearance of a new website under the name of the singer’s rumoured skincare and makeup collection, HausBeauty.com.
Currently the website is just a blank page where visitors can input their email address; it contains no further information about the line.
The website’s arrival follows months of conjecture surrounding the beauty brand.
In May, fans noticed that Gaga’s company, Ate My Heart Inc., had filed a trademark for Haus Beauty, which is described as a cosmetics and makeup line covering everything from foundation and lipstick to perfume, highlighter and nail polish.
In July, the trademark was issued for Haus Beauty as well as Haus Labs, another cosmetics-related trademark filed by the same company.
Gaga also started dropping subtle hints about the line on social media.
In September, she shared a series of photographs that included the #hausbeauty hashtag.
Each of the images showed the singer wearing Marc Jacobs Beauty makeup, with Gaga also tagging the @marcbeauty Instagram account.
This won’t be the star’s first foray into beauty. Gaga has already launched a perfume called Fame, which debuted in 2012, in addition to fronting the Mac Cosmetics Viva Glam campaigns in 2009 and 2011.
With her own line, Gaga will be joining a growing number of celebrities who have launched makeup collections, including Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, Drew Barrymore’s Flower Beauty, Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics, and Kim Kardashian‘s KKW Beauty.
Last year was momentous for the singer, with a starring role in her first feature film, A Star is Born, three Grammy Awards nominations and the launch of her hotly-anticipated Las Vegas concert residency, Enigma.
