From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Around 40 million Fortnite players competed to qualify for the three-day event, making it the most participated-in tournament of all time.
But the Fortnite World Cup is not just set to be the biggest eSports tournament of all time, the $3 million prize for the solos winner makes it one of the most lucrative tournaments in any sport.

Match two of Set two is underway and Ninja is guarding the tower, holding it well. His team is yet to make its mark on this tournament yet, but maybe he'll have more luck at the Celebrity Pro-Am later on. His teammate there? Marshmello.
The final match could see the Funky Fighters take the second Silver Llama... if they get their tactics right.
Chicken Champions currently have a 25-point lead and are steadily stretching it out. Cuddle Crew and Lil Whip Warriors are second and third but it looks like it might be another victory for the chooks.
And they've done it - Chicken Champions win the final match of set two.
The trick to win that game type is "go for the corners" apparently. No one watches the corners.
We've got another break now. Time to take a quick look at what's coming up in just one hour: the Celebrity Pro-Am.
The Celebrity Pro-Am duos tournament sees 50 pro players will join forces with 50 celebrities and influencers.
Pairings for the Pro-Am include Ninja and Marshmello, as well as Airwaks and RL Grime.
