Hamilton was within one second of Verstappen when he was called in for a second pit stop - Mercedes hoping that a switch to fresh tyres would provide the British star with a chance to usurp Verstappen. The strategy move by Formula One's all-conquering team proved inspired.
Hamilton left the pit lane 21 seconds behind Verstappen with 21 laps remaining, the Briton lighting up the time sheets before catching the back of Verstappen's Red Bull. The world champion then made the move for victory stick around the outside of Verstappen on lap 67. Re-live the action below:

Lap 57: Ricciardo is all over Magnussen in the battle for 14th place. He tries to overtake, but the latter swerves violently to cut him off.
Lap 58: Hamilton is given some encouragement on the team radio. "I know you can do this, Lewis. Fastest man out there." Verstappen's lead is 14.433 seconds.
Lap 59: Hamilton is chipping away at Verstappen's lead. The gap is down to 12.581 seconds. Verstappen is losing his temper a little with Magnussen as he tries to lap him, but eventually gets past.
Lap 60: Verstappen is expected to be down to "zero rubber" on his tyres by the end of the race. He can't afford another pit stop, so it's advantage Hamilton. With ten laps remaining, the lead is getting smaller and smaller.
Lap 62: Bottas is gaining on Lando Norris in eighth. But all the focus is on the front two now. Hamilton is under nine seconds behind now.
Lap 64: Hamilton is gaining on Verstappen. The gap is 5.486 seconds now. And Verstappen's update doesn't sound good. "Tyres are dead," he tells his team. That could be game over.
Lap 65: Hamilton looks almost certain to win now. He's 2.697 seconds behind Verstappen, breathing down the neck of the man who's been leading for almost the entirety of this race. That decision to pit has proved to be an excellent one from Mercedes.
Lap 66: Hamilton is right behind Verstappen now, almost within DRS range. It's just a matter of when he can overtake now.
Lap 67: There it is! Hamilton passes Verstappen on the long straight, taking him on the outside. The Belgian is powerless to stop him flying past. He now has three laps to guide his car home and win a seventh Hungarian Grand Prix!
