Your support makes all the difference.Max Verstappen mastered the tricky Hockenheim conditions to win the German Grand Prix as both Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas crashed out of the running on a miserable day for the championship leaders.
Hamilton looked on course for victory after leading from the front, but repeated accidents throughout the field caused chaos in the running order as different strategies played out. After Ferrari's Charles Leclerc crashed out of fourth position, Hamilton followed him into the wall the following lap with the safety car already deployed, which required him to pit immediately for a new front wing and land him a five-second time penalty for missing the pit entry.
The error allowed Verstappen to take the lead of the race, and despite further safety car periods due to Bottas' accident at Turn One, the Red Bull youngster was able to take the chequered flag and finish ahead of a hard-charging Sebastian Vettel who went from last to second, with the Toro Rosso of Daniil Kvyat a surprise finisher in third, one day after the birth of his first child. Lap 47: That was a sudden move from Red Bull and Mercedes but it's because Stroll is flying on the slicks and is up to fifth through the stops!
Lap 48: Hamilton, Raikkonen and Giovinazzi all pit, and Hamilton has to serve the five-second penalty before getting his slick tyres that drops him down to 12th. Meanwhile, Lance Stroll LEADS THE RACE!
Lap 49: Ah, that didn't last long as Verstappen overtakes Stroll to retake the lead of the race. It was sweet while it lasted.

Lap 51: Kvyat is on the charge and makes easy work of Stroll to move up to second place, nine seconds behind runaway leader Verstappen.
Lap 53: I'm afraid for Lance Stroll fans the podium position he is currently running in is not looking very safe, as Bottas is right behind him and eyeing up third place, with Sainz on the back of the Mercedes.
Lap 54: Hamilton goes off again! He spins into Turn One but somehow avoids the barrier and manages to get it going again. However, this is perhaps one of his worse drivers in recent memories, as when was the last time he made two big mistakes during the race?
Lap 56: I'll tell you what, Stroll is holding his own in third. The Racing Point is still in podium position, but Bottas is looking increasingly racey behind him.
Lap 57: Oh no. Magnussen has crashed into - you guessed it - his Haas teammate Grosjean.But wait...Bottas spins out of the race!
Lap 58: Magnussen does exactly the same as Hamilton and spins off at Turn One, but he's not so lucky and ploughs nose-first into the tyre barrier to end his race and release the pressure on Stroll for now. Hamilton meanwhil pits for the sixth time today, and he's running in 14th position - otherwise known as last place.
