Your support makes all the difference.Max Verstappen mastered the tricky Hockenheim conditions to win the German Grand Prix as both Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas crashed out of the running on a miserable day for the championship leaders.
Hamilton looked on course for victory after leading from the front, but repeated accidents throughout the field caused chaos in the running order as different strategies played out. After Ferrari's Charles Leclerc crashed out of fourth position, Hamilton followed him into the wall the following lap with the safety car already deployed, which required him to pit immediately for a new front wing and land him a five-second time penalty for missing the pit entry.
The error allowed Verstappen to take the lead of the race, and despite further safety car periods due to Bottas' accident at Turn One, the Red Bull youngster was able to take the chequered flag and finish ahead of a hard-charging Sebastian Vettel who went from last to second, with the Toro Rosso of Daniil Kvyat a surprise finisher in third, one day after the birth of his first child. Lap 29: Leclerc got a little bit of understeer on entry to the penultimate corner, and he aquaplaned straight off into the wall.
Wait...Hamilton spins off under the safety car!
Lap 30: Hamilton went off at exactly the same point as Leclerc at reduced speed, causing the crowd to erupt in celebration. He hits the wall and rips the front wing off the Mercedes, but unlike Leclerc he manages to get out of the gravel trap and make it to the pit lane. His stop takes an eternity though as the Mercedes crew are not ready for him, and decide to put him onto inters as it;s simply too wet for slicks.
Lap 31: Bottas pits the next lap and puts on inters, but Verstappen managed to dive in the lap previous to mean he takes the lead of the race!
Lap 32: Hamilton is now under investigation for missing the bollard that denotes the entry to the pit lane. When it rains, it pours.

Lap 35: Verstappen builds a five-second lead in a lap and he's absolutely flying! Hamilton meanwhile gets a five-second penalty for incorrect entry, and it gets worse for him as stewards confirm he's under investigation for driving unnecessarily slowly under the safety car! Will he get a second penalty?
