Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Over the weekend, Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, shared three portraits of their newborn son and revealed his full name for the first time.
“We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank,” Eugenie wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.”

Eugenie added that the photo had been taken by the couple’s “wonderful midwife”. She went on to explain that their son is named after Prince Philip and both parents’ great-great-great-great-great grandfathers, Prince Albert (Franz Albert August Karl Emanuel) and Reverend Edward Hawke Brooksbank.
“On his grandfather’s birthday weekend, thinking of my grandfather, we are introducing our little boy,” the princess said.
In the trio of images, little August could be seen wearing a coordinating outfit with his proud father, both in shades of blue, while the Queen’s grandaughter opted for a classic cream-colored turtleneck and a light brown jacket.
However, it was how Eugenie accessorised her look that really caught our eye. The 30-year-old added a statement punch of colour to her otherwise neutral ensemble with a luxurious velvet headband in a warm mustard shade.
Similar oversized hair accessories have proved popular with royal women in recent years, including the Duchess of Cambridge, who was an early adopter, wearing a padded headband back in November 2018 for a service marking the centenary of the Armistice at Westminster Abbey.
Princess Eugenie’s exact style is a bestseller and has been worn by a number of other celebrities, including Katy Perry and German fashion influencer Leonie Hanne. Read on to find out where to buy the royal’s trendy headband or, in the likely event that it sells out, we’ve picked a handful of similar styles you can shop now.

We love the jewel-toned topaz shade worn by the royal but, if you can’t wait that long to get your hands on one, the good news is that it is available to buy right now in classic black (£106, Mytheresa.com). Wear yours with loose, centre-parted curls or a sleek ponytail.

Created by My Accessories London, this headband is made from a glossy, satin-style fabric with a padded body and flexible band for a comfortable fit that’s gentle on your hair.
Sleek and simple, we think this style is subtle enough to wear every day to keep your hair away from your face, and would look just as good paired with party-ready pieces once lockdown lifts.
