Marvel fans are speculating which character could make an appearance on WandaVision after Elizabeth Olsen teased that there are more cameos to come.

Marvel’s first TV series for Disney+, WandaVision follows superheroes Wanda Maximoff (Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) as they live inside classic sitcoms through the decades from the 1950s.

The show has already featured a number of unannounced cameos from former Marvel stars, with Dr Darcy Lane (Kat Dennings) and FBI agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) turning up in the last episode.

Speaking to TVLine, Olsen confirmed that there were more surprises on the way, with a cameo akin to Mark Hamill’s return as Luke Skywalker in the season two Mandalorian finale due to occur.

While remaining tight-lipped about the identity of the actor – whose identity she said hadn’t leaked yet – Olsen said that she was “really excited” for viewers to see who would be turning up.

WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer also told the publication that there were “so many surprises left in store”, adding: “I encourage all fans to settle in, because there’s more coming.”

On Twitter, fans theorised about which MCU character could make an appearance that would have a similar impact to Luke in The Mandalorian.

One name that was widely circulated was that of X-Men’s Magneto, who has been played by both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender.

In an interview with Black Girl Nerds, Bettany said that he’d appeared on WandaVision alongside a legendary actor who he’d “wanting to work with forever”, which fans believe could reference either star.

“If true and not hyperbole, that is Magneto,” one fan commented, while another wrote: “This feels TOO BIG but Magneto… coming to rescue his daughter???”

Other fans suggested that Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart or James McAvoy, would have a similar impact.

“For something to be as big as Luke was in the Mandalorian, I feel like it would have to be like Magneto or one of the X-Men,” one fan commented. “This actually would be a good way to bring them in.”

WandaVision has received critical acclaim for its subversive style mixed with classic Marvel, with fans in particular praising the most recent episode, which featured an unexpected callback to Avengers: Endgame.

Meanwhile, a mid-season trailer for the show was released earlier this week, suggesting that Wanda will find an unexpected enemy in future episodes.

WandaVision airs every Friday on Disney+.
