From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Netflix has dropped the first trailer The Defenders which looks to pick up exactly where Daredevil's second season left off.
For those fans assuming that Elektra (Elodie Yung) had no part to play in future Marvel television series, the new trailer proves otherwise. Last we saw of Matt Murdock's love interest and adversary, her body was being placed into a chamber by an underground assassination organisation known as The Hand.
Although Yung's appearance has been confirmed, it's unclear whether she'll be fighting for forces of good or evil remains to be seen.
It's exciting to know that the Avengers-style mashup series that'll unite Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will feature other characters from the shared universe also.
Not much else is known about The Defenders other than the fact that Sigourney Weaver is on board playing the lead villain, and that Daredevil's Stick (played by The Leftovers actor Scott Glenn) will return.
The Defenders will arrive on Netflix on 18 August.
