Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

I’ve got a lot of time for bad actors, and really no good DVD collection should be without a little Sandler, a little Slater, a lot of Cage.

All three appear in a top 15 list compiled by Vox this week of ‘Actors who appear in the worst films’, the table ranked by lowest average Meteoritic score of all film appearances.

Wholly unsurprisingly, Rob Schneider and Adam Sandler top the list, joining Ashton Kutcher and Kevin James in having had the majority of the films they’ve made panned.

Hayden Christensen also features, his career having pretty much been stillborn following the Star Wars prequels, along with Gerard Butler who exclusively makes bad action films now.

Vince Vaughn and Christian Slater are perhaps slightly more surprising inclusions, while Nicolas Cage is only at 15th due to the fact he very occasionally makes a great movie amid all the surreal/banal ones.

Interestingly, Robert De Niro didn't make the list - the wealth of great films under his belt having apparently not been tarnished by a recent slew of atrocious ones.

List in full:
