Watch Robert De Niro degrade himself in trailer for his latest film, genuinely called Dirty Grandpa
'Party til you're pregnant' he yells, simulating sex
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A couple of months back, Robert De Niro stormed out of an interview at the mere suggestion his career might be on “autopilot” of late.
This January he puts that scurrilous idea to bed, with a film in which he goes on spring break with Zac Efron, squirting cream on bikini-wearing girls’ breasts and smoking crack.
Dirty Grandpa comes from the worrying combination of a newcomer screenwriter and the director of Borat, and centres on a retired army general (De Niro) who tricks his straight-laced grandson Jason (Efron) into driving them to spring break just before the latter is due to get married.
The trailer sees De Niro making dick puns, twerking to EDM, smoking crack at a house party and doing the old ’suggestively squirting suncream’ gag.
“I haven’t had sex in 15 years, I want to fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!” he screams at one point, “party til' you’re pregnant!” - before presumably going back to his trailer off set and weeping as an old VHS of Taxi Driver lies dusty and unloved on the floor nearby.
Safety Not Guaranteed’s Aubrey Plaza, who deserves better, co-stars, along with Dermot Mulroney, Julianne Hough and Adam Pally.
Dirty Grandpa will start accepting idiots at cinemas in the US and UK on 22 January, 2016.
