Produced by filmmaker Jon Favreau, the new series takes place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and stars Pedro Pascal as the bounty hunter of the title.
Werner Herzog, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Nick Nolte are among the show’s supporting cast, while Taika Waititi, Rick Famuyiwa and Bryce Dallas Howard have directed individual episodes.
While the episode is available for US viewers to see, those in Europe – barring the Netherlands – will have to wait for quite a while.
Disney is not making the series available in any territory until Disney+ is released there. This means that UK citizens will have to wait until 31 March, 2020 to see The Mandalorian – find out all the details about Disney+'s UK release here.
Many Star Wars fans have expressed their outrage on Twitter. One wrote in a post with Disney tagged into it: ”Can you recommend any good sites for illegally downloading The Mandalorian? I was looking forward to being a subscriber but as you don’t give a s*** about us in the UK, I thought you might help.”
Another hinted they would be illegally downloading the season premiere, writing: “If I get a virus trying to watch The Mandalorian, it’s entirely on Disney+ for not launching in the UK.”
One tweeter said Disney had “let [the UK] down” by delaying the episode.
