This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Masked Singer series two finally came to an end tonight (13 February), with viewers choosing Sausage as their winner, and discovering it was none other than Joss Stone all along!
Runner-up in the finale was Badger, who was revealed to be US singer Ne-Yo.
Placing third was Robin. Somewhat inevitably, Robin was unmasked as JLS star Aston Merrygold.
Stone, who also revealed she had been “heavily pregnant” beneath her Sausage suit, closed the show with a rendition of Andra Day’s “Rise Up”. Right before the credits rolled, she giggled: “What a silly show!”
Guesses from the judges that didn’t come to fruition included Fergie, Jennifer Hudson and Demi Lovato for Sausage, Pharrell Williams for Badger, and Olly Murs for Robin.
Judge Rita Ora was particularly shocked at the unmasking of Ne-Yo, as the pair are friends.
Merrygold also revealed that none of his fellow JLS bandmates knew he was participating in the show.
Stone follows in the footsteps of series one winner Nicola Roberts, who also appeared in tonight’s episode as a special guest judge.
The second series of The Masked Singer has been a runaway hit for ITV. Celebrities unmasked in previous weeks included Gabrielle, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mel B, Sue Perkins and Lenny Henry.
The Masked Singer will return for a third series in 2022, with filming beginning later this year.
It’s the finale!
Hey! Welcome to The Independent’s live blog for tonight’s Masked Singer finale.
Weeks of wigs, screaming and general chaos have built to this, and we’re just a few hours away from a winner being crowned.
Badger, Sausage and Robin are the last costumed stars standing, and we’re hoping for some last-minute surprises. Or just inevitable confirmation that one of them is Aston Merrygold.
One of the biggest mysteries going into tonight is the identity of Badger, who has been able to change their voice throughout the competition.
Among the more popular suggestions is US singer Ne-Yo, Strictly’s Kevin Clifton and even Carl Fogarty.
We’ve collated all the clues so far, and they can be found here.
And who is Sausage? A number of names have been suggested as the secret celebrity behind the mask, including Ellie Goulding and Sheridan Smith.
But a fast-rising bookies favourite is also Joss Stone. Could it have been her all along?
All the sausage-y clues can be found here.
Then there’s the mysterious Robin (it’s Aston Merrygold). We know that he’s a great dancer as well as a talented singer (he’s Aston Merrygold from JLS), and speculation has run rife that he could be Lee Ryan from Blue (it’s Aston from JLS) or Olly Murs (he’s JLS star Aston Merrygold).
Peter Andre is also a hot favourite among the bookies (despite it being Aston Merrygold). Tonight we will find out (that it’s Aston).
We’ve collated all the clues as to Robin’s true identity here.
Have money on tonight’s final? Why not catch up with the latest bookies odds here.
Last week saw Nineties warbler Gabrielle unmasked as Harlequin, and made us all nostalgic for the Bridget Jones soundtrack. Here’s how it all went down...
Also unmasked last weekend was former Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins, who had been disguised as Dragon. Find out why she chose her alter ego here.
Judges tonight will be Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall, all of whom took a wage cut before the start of this series. “Happily,” according to Ross in an interview this week...
If you’re already bereft at the thought of no more Masked Singer after tonight, you’ll be relieved to know that a third series is in the pipeline. Jonathan Ross has claimed that production will begin in October, presumably for a 2022 start date.
