From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Well, it's happened again. The people behind Love Island have given us another stone cold classic episode. Prepare for some pulse-racing action in the Spanish villa. What can we say? It is what it is.
Tonight's show opened fresh off the back of perhaps the gloomiest ever episode of Love Island, which saw Amy decide to quit the villa after having her heart broken by Curtis. It also saw Lucie and George get sent packing by their fellow islanders. Ouch, that's gotta hurt.
This evening, the heat got turned up in the villa, as newly-single Curtis shared his first kiss with Maura, during the lap dancing challenge. There were catwoman outfits, there were policewoman outfits, there was even Curtis Pritchard in a pair of sparkly purple hot pants. Oh, and Ovie coined our favourite phrase of the series so far, "Lawd ah mercy."
Never change, Ovie. Never change.
Here are the biggest talking points from the latest episode:
Anton left 'fuming' after Love Island newbie Chris takes Belle on a date
Things have been looking up for Anton in the villa since 21-year-old makeup artist Belle Hassan entered and the two entered into a couple. However, it looked like there may be trouble in paradise as new guy Chris took Belle for a date as soon as he entered the villa. But, judging by his chat, Anton doesn't have too much to worry about. Chris's opening line? "What's your favourite biscuit?" Yep, we think you'll be just grand, Anton.
Love Island contestants dress up in 'sexy' outfits for the lap dancing challenge
Tonight's episode saw the Islanders compete in a sizzling 'lap-dancing task', in which the girls dressed up in a parade of 'sexy' outfits before lap dancing for the boys before the boys did the same for them. Think catwoman, think burlesque dancer, think... Anton greased up and gyrating as a sexy sailor. Get the picture? Great.
The aim of the challenge was to get the other side's hearts racing as much as possible, with the whole thing judged with high tech gadgets. Oh Love Island, you really are great, aren't you.
Michaels' heart rate is sent 'soaring' by Amber
Our favourite moment from the entire episode? Oh, you know, the moment when it was revealed that Michael's heart rate was raised most by Amber during the challenge. Michael was left red-faced when the results were read out, and his new partner Joanna Chimonides didn't manage to get him as hot under the collar by his former flame.
Hey, what can we say? You can't deny science! Yes, it was awkward, but these are the moments we live for on this show, are they not?
Maura shares her first kiss with Curtis
You can all finally let out a big sigh of relief! Now that Amy has left the villa, Maura made her intentions very clear when it came to 'cracking on' with Curtis. Tonight was their night. During the lap dancing challenge, the two islanders finally locked lips, and as the Irish grid girl went in for a kiss, it seemed that Curtis couldn't be happier... Well, only time will tell...

Love island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2.
Good evening Love Island fans, and welcome to tonight's live-blog! We've got lots of excitement in store for you this evening, but before we get stuck in, here are some juicy bits of gossip from last night's show. You know, just to whet the appetite.
Sadly enough, last night saw Lucie and George evicted from the villa after they received the lowest number of votes from the public, and the other Islanders were forced to decide between booting them or Amy and Curtis out. Trouble in paradise...
That's definitely not all though, folks. Last night was a bonafide tear jerker. In genuinely heartbreaking scenes, Amy decided that she would sacrifice herself for the happiness of her lost love, Curtis, and she left the villa. Speaking to her half-boyfriend, she said: "I’m gonna let you pursue whoever it is you wanna pursue, because you can’t do that with me here, and I can’t heal in here." A true martyr, she then added: "I hope you find someone that makes you so, so happy." We're not crying, you are!
Still hungry for more? Oh, go on then. After four weeks together in the villa, Tommy and Molly-Mae have taken their already flourishing relationship to yet another dizzying height. They've dropped the L-bomb. In scenes that could have been right out of the pages of Romeo and Juliet, as the two snuggled down in bed at the end of a long day, Tommy muttered "I love you", to Molly. Her response? Yep, a big old "I love you" back. No, we absolutely didn't see this coming on a show titled Love Island, either.
And, last, but definitely not least, two new Islanders entered the villa last night. As of yet, they're both essentially still enigmas. One is called Francesca. Another is called Chris. Will they have more crack than "Have you ever tasted chocolate-covered Oreos" George? Who knows... we wait with bated breath.
Your Love Island appetite still not satiated? Fine, well, in that case, peruse last night's fabulous live-blog, and we can guarantee you won't be left wanting...
Now that we've had a thorough recap, let's look ahead to tonight's episode, which starts in LESS THAN AN HOUR. Yes, we can barely contain our excitement, either. Tonight's episode sees the heat turned up, as the Love Island girls dress up in 'sexy' outfits, in order to take part in a 'lap-dancing challenge'. Ok, we should have predicted something like this would have happened soon, it is Love Island, after all...
It also awaits to be seen whether Maura will 'crack on' with Curtis now that Amy has officially left the villa. People on social media have lots of thoughts about the situation...
If you'd like a little bit more background on the new contestants, you're in the right place! Because you're about to get some! Francesca Allen is a 23-year-old from Essex, who, before entering the villa, worked as a clothing store manager. She also reportedly rates herself a seven out of 10 on the looks scale and believes her best feature is her smile. Chris Taylor, on the other hand, is a 28-year-old business development manager from Leicester. He reportedly describes himself as the 'full package' and rates himself a 7.2 out of 10 on the attractive scale. Whoever said Love Island was vacuous and shallow? They were mistaken!
Word on the grapevine is that Anton might be left unlucky in love AGAIN on tonight's episode. The 24-year-old has been coupled up with makeup artist Belle Hassan since they met in Casa Amor, but could he be facing some competition on tonight's show? Poor bloke. Well, we guess 'it is what it is'.
