Love Island 2019: 'I can't decide in two days!' Lucie feels the pressure from both Joe and Tommy

Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Can it really only be day four of Love Island? Then again, Love Island days are something like dog years – while in the real world, for love to be found and hearts to be broken, it takes at least a few months, in the strange, wonderful world of the Love Island villa, all of that happens within the space of just a few hours.

So far, of course, the biggest talking point has been the Joe-Tommy-Lucie love triangle, during which both Joe and Tommy, it must be said, have proven themselves to be pretty shady characters indeed.

Tonight, little changed in that regard. Here are the biggest talking points from the episode, and catch up with the episode as it happened below.

Molly-Mae arrives

So far, there’s not much to report on the newest Islander, 20-year-old Molly-Mae. Despite the fact that her arrival was teased for the entire episode, she only turned up in the last two minutes, and is yet to interact with another Islander. Still, it looks as though drama is on the cards as Tommy heads to meet her in, er, a hot tub. The location of all great first dates.

Operation AAA

What began as the nauseatingly-named "Operation AA" has now become the frankly even more nauseating "Operation AAA" – in which Anton attempts to use Amber to help him wheedle his way into Anna’s affections (are you keeping up?). Anna, meanwhile, seems to have little to no interest in the whole thing. Good on her, frankly.

All hail Amber

If you weren’t already convinced that Amber is the queen of Love Island 2019 (with possible competition from Amy), her iconic eye roll when Joe announced that their brief flirtation was over will surely have done it. So far, Amber has put just about every male islander in their place, and for that, we salute her.

Lucie stands up to Joe

After Ofcom received several complaints about Joe’s “manipulative” behaviour towards Lucie, after he threw an out-of-proportion tantrum when she was picked to go on a date with new arrival Tommy, Lucie has put him firmly in his place. “If you’re flirting with [Amber] behind my back, why can’t I talk to Tommy?” she said. “Chill, take it slow, we’re good, and I can still talk to him.” Quite right.

Mamma Mia, here we go again – it's day four of Love Island but it feels like day 40. Whether that's a good thing or not depends entirely on your perspective.

As you're no doubt well aware of, last night, after Tommy picked Lucie as his partner, breaking her away from Joe, Tommy and Lucie went on a double date with Curtis and Amy. Joe was... almost suspiciously distressed by the whole thing.

alexandra.pollard6 June 2019 19:20

Amy and Curtis are angling for her to take her time and get to know some of the other Islanders if she wishes to, which doesn't seem like a bad idea at the moment.

Once Lucie told Tommy she wasn't exactly ready to forget about Joe, Tommy broadened his perspectives and tried to chat up Amber. Remember way back in episode one, when Tommy insisted that everyone seemed so lovely, and he couldn't possibly wish to upset anyone? Yeah, me neither.

Amid all this drama, Curtis, and by extension Curtis and his partner Amy, appear to have given fans the dose of romance they needed. During the episode, Twitter was awash with smitten messages basically elevating Curtis to the rank of national treasure.

Meanwhile...

And of course, the big news at the end of last night's episode was that Molly-Mae Hague, a social media influencer who once dated Leicester City's James Maddison, was joining the villa. Viewers were given the opportunity to vote and decide which Islander to send her on a date with. Jury's out as to who they'll pick... Find out in 20 minutes.

Here we go... Fingers crossed for more of this from Curtis tonight

What Joe sees as "flirty banter" is most likely just Amber being extremely not fussed

alexandra.pollard6 June 2019 21:03

Who started this "it is what it is" business and how do I get them removed from the villa?
