Love Island 2019: Michael invites Jourdan to sleep in his bed

Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Michael appears to have been cancelled after the latest episode of Love Island.

As the guys from Casa Amor got to know the Islander girls, back at the original villa a lot of heads were being turned. Curtis in particular, who seemed torn over his proclaimed loyalty for Amy, his "half-girlfriend", versus his interest in new girl Jourdan.

Here are some of the key talking points:

The islanders play some love games

A new challenge caused trouble after demanding different contestants kiss one another according to age and height. Molly-Mae got jealous after learning Tommy, the youngest boy, had kissed another girl, while Amber was equally peeved that Michael kissed someone else, given that she refused to take part in the kissing challenges.

Curtis's head is turned, a lot

Curtis is risking his relationship with Amy after admitting that he was interested in Jourdan. However, after hearing him confess said interest, Jourdan then opted to share a bed with Danny and enjoy a lights-out makeout session with him. So Curtish could be risking everything for... nothing.

Anton gets his first kiss

Anton looked genuinely baffled after weeks of being ignored by the women of Love Island, when he was kissed by new contestant Belle, who definitely isn't cosying up to him because she wants to stay on the show whent the next recoupling takes place.

Michael is cancelled

After the trailer for tomorrow night's episode (2 July) aired, viewers expressed their shock on social media after seeing Michael crack on with Joanna, despite professing his loyalty to Amber. "I've officially lost all hope in men," one particularly distressed audience member tweeted. "Goodnight."

Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2, Tuesday 9pm

Hello and welcome to tonight's Love Island liveblog!

In last night's episode, we saw the girls pack their bags and head over to Casa Amor where tenuous allegiances to their boyfriends were tested. Anna has already shacked up with basketball player Ovie (why would you not?) despite being coupled with Jordan. Maura has finally found her match and managed to get a kiss within an hour of meeting footballer Dennon. Why does everyone have stupid names.

Also last night, back in the villa, all-round good guy Curtis hinted that his head "might be turned" away from Amy, whom he's been with since the start. GASPS. "Well I like her," he mused. "But..."

Tonight things look set to get heated as contestants are forced to undergo various tasks that basically just involve necking one another, and no prizes. Apart from maybe a cold.

First look at what to expect from the villa tonight

Some gold from our critic Sean O'Grady's latest review (from last week)

It now seems that Love Island is permitting mass immigration, and is going to double its population, starting with six freshly tanned “bevs” (hunky lads) arriving at the island and being put up at the ridiculously named Casa Amor villa. The girls at the regular Love Island villa then made their way over to Casa Amor (which may be freely translated as Shag Shack), to check out the breeding potential of the male members.

Plainly these fine specimens had all been selected using what our politicians like to term “Australian-style points based system”. Bonus points must have been awarded for stereotypical Love Island occupations such as personal trainer (Marvin Brooks), builder (George Rains) and bathroom salesman (Dan Rose); gruesome tats; and the ability to say “it is what it is”. Points were deducted, presumably, for: body hair; trying to smuggle the London Review of Books in; and being able to prove via formal logic the proposition “it is what it isn’t”.

New challenges are causing trouble between some of the show’s favourite couples, including Molly-Mae and Tommy.

In tonight’s episode, a challenge between the Islanders and the Casa Amor residents asks that the youngest girl and the youngest boy kiss one another, which results in Molly-Mae kissing Dan. Tommy kisses Belle, so Molly-Mae kisses two male contestants at the same time: Dan and Stevie.

Anton and Curtis also get involved in the challenge, while Curtis, who is confused about his relationship with Amy, kisses Jourdan.

Relatable

Consider this your five-minute warning before I start being really rude about everyone on the show.
