From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference. The latest episode of Love Island saw tough decisions, heated rows and a pretty dodgy reaction from one of the male contestants.
Tonight's edition filled viewers in on the precise reason why Ollie decided to leave the villa after just three days and producers also found time to show us the burgeoning love triangle between new arrival Eve, Callum and Shaughna.
Meanwhile, an important announcement sent shockwaves ricocheting through the villa – and one that may have irreparably damaged what seemed to be the strongest couple in this year's series..
Below are the three biggest talking points from tonight's episode.
1. Ollie exits the show
So, in news that the world already knew, 23-year-old estate owner and potential trophy-hunter Ollie Williams decided to leave the villa after just three days. His reason? Because he realised he still has feelings for his ex--girlfriend. "This show's about love, isn't it?" he told his fellow contestants after he gathered them around the firepit to break the news. They were all a bit taken aback and perhaps a little bit too emotional considering they've known him for 72 hours.
2. Sianisse puts Nas straight
Nas is quite clearly this series's class clown, but sadly this has put him in the "friend zone" area with Sianisse. Perhaps it's because of this that he feels the beauty consultant from Bristol has been giving him "mixed signals". So, when this news got back to her via Jess, she snapped into action and pulled him to one side. "There's no spark romantically," she told him firmly, extinguishing any hope of a romance between the pair. Not that anyone expected there to be one.
3. Connor's questionable reaction
It all started to go a bit wrong for Connor when Paige bellowed: "I've got a text!" After swiftly discovering that two new boys were poised to enter the villa the next day, Connor was shocked to see Sophie – with whom he's coupled up – waving her hands in the air and whooping in celebration. "It's a bit muggy," he told the boys before taking Sophie to one side in order to work out whether or not she was joking (answer: she quite clearly was). Even after she tells him she meant nothing by it, he looks at her like she'd just urinated on his shoes and controllingly berated her for her reaction. If he wants to win the game, he's going to have to develop a bit of a thicker skin.

So, what are we hoping happens tonight? I'll vote first: something dramatic and interesting.
We're just moments away from what we're sure will be world class television.
Tensions rocking the villa following the arrival of Eve. Will she find her very own Adam? Time will tell.
