From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

First up, the highly anticipated split of Alex and Ellie finally happened. While the nation was previously on the Good Doctor's side, viewers have gradually turned against Alex, who exploded at Ellie during their very school-yard break-up. With Ellie storming off just before the credits rolled, the pair's chances of winning the £50,000 prize money (that's the reason they're really on the show, right?) have pretty much diminished.
Before then, though, we saw Laura in tears as Wes called her "ignorant" following a very revealing challenge (in which one contestant, the snake in the grass Adam, revealed that he had slept with over 200 people). Plus, Megan spoke candidly about really not being all that into Eyal (which comes as no surprise to anyone with a braincell).
And all that leads nicely into the tease for the next episode: Megan choosing to smooch Wes instead of Eyal! What will Laura do? Do we still care?
With another dramatic episode on the horizon, The Independent will be bringing you the latest from the Spanish villa. For now, you can catch up on everything that happened during Monday's show below.
In other Love Island news, the happy couple Dani and Jack are about to be rocked. Reports indicate that the ITV producers are planning a particularly cruel addition to the villa: Jack's former girlfriend, the 22-year-old Keeley MacGuire, is heading to Majorca. Could their now official romance be scuppered?
Love Island continues nightly except for Saturday on ITV2 at 9pm.
This entitlement from Alex. You can't expect Ellie to be that into you from one date. People change their minds. This is awkward television. Can the producers cut away from this conversation, please? PLEASE. I watch TV to get away from this kinda drama, not watch more of it.
"I think a lot of people would watch this and say you've played a game with me." Really Alex? This has turned into a shouting match..... Annnnnnddd, she's walked away. DRAMA!
Oh, damn. While that was a horror show for Alex, we're now being teased by Wes and Megan! The pieces were in place, but oh boy, they're finally moving.
This lass, whose name I don't think anyone can actually recall, has the right idea. Just sip wine and watch everything play out.
My favourite meme of the evening. (From BoJack Horseman, which everyone should watch immediately.)
And that's another episode of Love Island wrapped. Things look set to heat up exponentially tomorrow as Wes and Megan make a surprise move for each other, inevitably ending to friction between Wes/Laura and Megan/Eyal. Again, The Independent will be live-blogging along, so stay with us for all the latest from Spain. Buenas noches!
