From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here final has come and gone, with Harry Redknapp crowned champion.

After a week of eliminations, Fleur East became the eighth person to be evicted from the jungle, leaving behind just three contestants behind.

They were football manager Harry Redknapp, Torchwood actor John Barrowman and The Inbetweeners actor Emily Atack. Redknapp ended up winning.

Redknapp was the bookies firm favourite to win, with odds standing on 1/8 on Paddypower, Ladbrokes and Sky Bet.

Borrowman was expected to come second, the same three bookies having him at 8/1, 10/1 and 9/1, respectively. Atack looks set to come third, at 10/1, 12/1 and 14/1. Atack came second.

Although tonight’s episode (9 December) was the last episode of the season, the production team found time to give the three finalists one of their hardest challenges yet.

A clip released by ITV showed Atack having her head placed inside a transparent helmet which is filled with insects.

The I’m A Celebrity final was on ITV. Read more about the final episode here.
