From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Your support makes all the difference.Matthew Perry has reignited speculation that Ross, Monica, Joey, Chandler and Rachel will be back on our screens for a Friends reunion after tweeting: “Big news coming”.
Fans have long-since demanded a reunion with all of the original cast members.
One wrote: “Reunion??? Its 2020 and everyone including Emma has woken up from their nap!!!”
While another warned: “don’t play with my feelings like this”.
The suspicion that Friends might return to screens began last October when Jennifer Aniston Instagrammed a photo with the rest of her costars enjoying a reunion dinner.
Later in the month, Aniston explained on The Ellen Show that she was “working on something” with Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry.
Then in December, Aniston stoked up yet more speculation after insisting to People magazine that though she knows “nothing” about the production of a reboot, she and the rest of the cast are trying to make it happen: “And I will just continue with… we’re trying.”
The actor continued: “It’s a never-ending question, isn’t it? What else could make a group of six actors feel more proud?”
“It’s bringing people joy on a daily basis.”
Meanwhile, an insider told The Hollywood Reporter that the six Friends stars were in talks to reunite with HBO Max for an “unscripted reunion special”. Though the publication did emphasise that the deal is “far from done and agreements with cast and creatives still need to be hammered out”.
Matthew Perry recently apologised for being rude to Drag Race judge Ross Mathews on the red carpet.
