From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. This Saturday will see Fleur East do vocal battle with Andrea Faustini and Ben Haenow to be crowned X Factor winner.
The East London singer has already laid down her rendition of “Something I Need” by One Republic, which she will release as a single if she scores the most public votes this weekend.
Ben has recorded the same song, while Andrea has gone for a power ballad with “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength’ by Whitney Houston.
But with stiff competition from the boys, what are 26-year-old Fleur’s chances of following the likes of Leona Lewis, Little Mix and James Arthur to victory?
Ladbrokes has named her red-hot odds-on favourite at 4/11 and she is in prime position to bag the Christmas number one at 8/15.
Take a look back at some of her best performances:
“Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars
“Bang Bang” by Jessie J
“I’m Every Woman” by Whitney Houston
“Thriller” by Michael Jackson
“If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys
Those of you still addicted to Fleur’s semi-final version of “Uptown Funk” (that includes us…) will be pleased to hear that she will be singing it again on Saturday after choosing it as her performance of the series with mentor Simon Cowell.
She will also sing "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
The X Factor final airs on ITV this Saturday at 8.30pm and again on Sunday at 8pm.
