Cilla Black and Ken Dodd’s gravestones vandalised as Liverpool council appeals for information

Both entertainers are buried in Allerton Cemetery in Liverpool

The gravestones of Cilla Black and Ken Dodd have been targeted by vandals.

Liverpool city council has appealed for information after the graves of the entertainers, who are both buried in Allerton Cemetery, were vandalised on Monday night (26 October).

A spokesperson said on Tuesday: “We were appalled to discover this morning that the graves of Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd had been vandalised overnight.”

Staff have been carrying out repairs on the plots, with the council urging for “anyone who has any information about the person or people responsible” to contact the police.

Singer and TV presenter Black died aged 72 in 2015, with her body being brought back to the UK from her home in Spain for a funeral in Woolton.

The service, which was attended by the likes of Tom Jones and Andrew Lloyd Webber, was followed by a private burial at Allerton cemetery, where her mother and father are also buried.

Comedian Dodd died at his home in Liverpool’s Knotty Ash, where he had lived all his life, in 2018. He was 90 years old.

Thousands gathered for his funeral at Liverpool Cathedral before a private burial was held for family and close friends.
