From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Greg James has defended his hilarious reaction to Giovanna Fletcher winning I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The author, actor and podcast host was crowned the first-ever Queen of the Castle last week, beating fellow campmates Jordan North and Vernon Kay.

James was clearly disappointed for his fellow Radio 1 presenter North, and shared a funny clip of himself watching Ant and Dec announce the winner, in which he could be heard shouting: “Oh f*** off! Oh for f…”

He followed the post up with a tweet that pointed out he was allowed to be disappointed for his friend.

“Ps. This is the reaction to a pal not winning a show where you have to eat b******s and sit in maggots,” he wrote.

“Don’t take it too seriously. Gi is lovely and a worthy winner but I’m allowed to be disappointed for Jordan,” he added. “No need to call the be kind police.”

Meanwhile Fletcher’s husband, McFly star Tom Fletcher, posted a video of him with their six-year-old son, Buzz, reacting to the announcement of her win.

In the clip, Tom was seen watching the TV with Buzz, who could be heard saying excitedly, “Mummy won!” as Ant and Dec declared Giovanna the winner.

Other contestants to have taken part in this year’s series of I’m a Celebrity include EastEnders stars Shane Richie and Jessica Plummer, journalist Victoria Derbyshire, and Coronation Street star Beverley Callard.
