In the penultimate outing of the HBO show, Daenerys took matters into her own hands as she took Missandei’s final word quite literally and burnt King’s landing to the ground.
Jon Snow, Tyrion and Arya watched on in horror as the Dragon Queen commanded Drogon to wipe out thousands of innocent civilians, including women and children, essentially becoming the Mad Queen – a plot twist fans were hoping would not be the case.
Next week, the show’s final episode airs and it’ll show Daenerys come face-to-face with the characters who survived the ordeal. Quite what their response will be remains to be seen.
Having arrived in King’s Landing to kill Cersei, Arya will no doubt have shifted her attentions considering the latter is dead and that she experienced Daenerys’s devastating destruction first-hand.
Thrones actor Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys, has spoken candidly about his disappointment with being sidelined over the past few seasons. His character met his demise in the penultimate instalment alongside The Mountain (who finally unmasked for Cleganebowl) and all of these individuals.
Cersei star Lena Headey has also revealed she felt "mixed" about her character's death scene in a brand new interview following the broadcast of the episode.
You can find a ranking of every character – from worst best – here and the same for every episode below.
The show will be available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
