From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kevin Reilly, the platform’s chief content officer, shared a status update on Wednesday as part of the Television Critics Association’s press tour.
”There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t seem to quite get that interest all aligned to push the button on it,” he said according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Today, unfortunately, it’s still a maybe.”
Friends recently left Netflix and will be available again on HBO Max after the platform launches in May 2020.
The Friends cast have had mini-reunions of sorts over the past few months, including on Jennifer Aniston’s Instagram account.
Her very first post on the platform was a photo of herself with Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.
Aniston herself told Ellen DeGeneres in October last year that she and her former cast mates were “working on something” together.
“We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is,” she said at the time.
“So we’re just trying – we’re working on something.”
