From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

UPDATE: Tickets sale postponed until further notice
The legendary musician will play three gigs in Glasgow, London and Birmingham beginning later this month. It will be his first ever solo piano tour, meaning no band and some extra special sets.
The first shows kick off at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall at 5pm and 9pm on Friday 27 November, before London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane at 3pm and 7pm on Sunday 29 November and Birmingham’s Symphony Hall at 5pm and 9pm on Thursday 1 December.
Prince enjoys playing intimate gigs and spent early 2013 playing venues up and down the country on his Hit And Run tour with his new band 3RDEYEGIRL. Now, he’s ready for a fresh challenge.
“I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that’s been perfected for over 30 years,” he said, according to Time Out. “You have to try new things. With the piano it’s more naked, more pure.”
Ever the hype master, many of the concerts were only announced on the day or kept secret altogether, with tickets selling on the door for just £10 in some places. Prince returned last spring for another string of UK dates.
Tickets go on sale today at 10am and be bought from official ticketing websites. They are limited to two per person and photo ID will be required for the lead booker.
