From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ticketing website Ticketmaster announced the news less than an hour before the tickets were scheduled for release, leaving many fans angry and confused. Some had taken the morning off work to be in prime position to bag some.

The legendary musician is scheduled to play three gigs in Glasgow, London and Birmingham beginning later this month. It will be his first ever solo piano tour, meaning no band and some extra special sets.
Should all go ahead as planned, the first shows will kick off at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall at 5pm and 9pm on Friday 27 November, before London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane at 3pm and 7pm on Sunday 29 November and Birmingham’s Symphony Hall at 5pm and 9pm on Thursday 1 December.
Ever the hype master, many of the concerts were only announced on the day or kept secret altogether, with tickets selling on the door for just £10 in some places.
It remains to be seen how he The Purple One will weasel his way out of this.
