One World Together At Home concert highlights: All the best bits from Taylor Swift to Celine Dion, Lady Gaga and Andrea Bocelli

Stars including Elton John, Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Taylor Swift and more got involved in the event

The One World: Together at Home global concert saw some of the biggest pop stars on the planet join forces for an eight-hour stream of virtual performances.

Organised with Lady Gaga and charitable organisation Global Citizen, the concert included a six-hour pre-show available to stream online, before the two-hour main event airing both online and on television.

Among the many artists to perform were Taylor Swift, Sir Paul McCartney, The Killers, The Rolling Stones, Jennifer Lopez, Sam Smith, Sir Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, The Killers, Kacey Musgraves and Jennifer Hudson.

Here are some of the highlights from the evening:

Elton John

The “Rocketman” artist offered a rousing rendition of his song “I’m Still Standing”, performed on a grand piano in his garden.

Sheryl Crow

The US rock star performed an intimate piano number as well as her hit “Every Day is a Winding Road”.

Beyonce’s heartfelt speech

The Lemonade star took special care to address black Americans, who “disproportionately belong to those essential parts of the workforce that do not have the luxury of working from home”.

“Tonight, we celebrate true heroes,” she said. “Those who are making the ultimate sacrifice to keep us all saf,e fed and healthy. To the doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers who are away from their families to take care of ours, we continue to pray for your safety.”

Taylor Swift singing ‘Soon You’ll Get Better’

The Lover artist’s performance of “Soon You’ll Get Better”, from her latest album, was an emotional one. The song was written for Swift’s mother following her cancer diagnosis, but felt even more poignant now.

Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell

The siblings and musical collaborators performed “Sunny” by Bobby Hebb. Eilish took time after the performance to thank health workers battling coronavirus.

SuperM

The South Korean pop group were one of the most entertaining acts of the night, with a video showing the seven members engaging in various activities at their homes, including making a toy boat, drawing, and weight-lifting.

Luis Fonsi

“This is how we do it down in Puerto Rico!” The record-obliterating song made an appearance towards the end of the first round of performances, as a special acoustic rendition by Luis Fonsi and his band.

Jennifer Hudson

Is it possible that Hudson has managed to, however slightly, redeem the horror show that was Cats? The singer and actor performed “Memory”, which some social media fans said had moved them to tears.

Christine and the Queens

The French artist sang two of her most recent tracks, “People, I’ve Been Sad” and “Mountains”.

Annie Lennox and her daughter Lola

The Eurythmics singer and her daughter offered a fantastic rendition of “There Must Be an Angel”.

Hozier

You’d think it’d be tired by now, but Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” still has a powerful resonance, particularly in a time when the world is being urged to come together.

Cassper Nyovest

With just backing track and a microphone, standing against a plain wall in his home, Cassper Nyovest still managed to offer one of the most joyful performances of the night.

The Killers

Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci (apparently they live together?) performed “Mr Brightside” and “Caution”.

Angele

The French artist sang her track “Balance ton Quoi”, a nod to her country’s feminist movement #BalancetonPorc.

Liam Payne and Rita Ora

The pair performed a duet of “For You”, which featured in the Fifty Shades film franchise, from their respective homes, managing to achieve some wonderful harmonies.

Lady Gaga

Along with hosting duties, Gaga sang a moving version of “Smile” as she launched the second part of the eight-hour concert.
