Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Thousands of Oasis fans have been left empty-handed and frustrated after struggling to nab tickets to the group’s 2025 reunion tour.

Tickets went on sale at 9am on Saturday and were expected to be sold out in minutes, but instead many waited in online queues for up to 10 hours, only to be kicked off booking websites with “Error 503” messages appearing on their screens.

Just after 7pm, Oasis and Ticketmaster finally announced that tickets had sold out.

Some of those who did manage to make it through the queue to select tickets for Cardiff, Edinburgh, Dublin, London and Manchester found that the cost for general standing tickets had risen unexpectedly as a result of Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing policy, which saw the cost of tickets double in some cases.

For the Manchester shows, for example, a general admission standing ticket was expected to cost £150 but that price had risen to £355 under the dynamic pricing policy that reflects increased demand.

However, Oasis has warned against buying resale tickets at inflated prices with companies other than its promoter, saying those tickets will not be valid.

The British rock band announced their long-awaited reunion on Tuesday (27 August), with brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher set to join one another onstage for the first time since their split in 2009.

Read Oasis’s stance on reselling tickets

The Oasis website states: “Ticket resale is permitted at no more than the price you paid (face value + booking fees). Please only use the official resale partners www.twickets.live and Ticketmaster. Selling tickets through unauthorised resale platforms will breach these T&Cs and those tickets may be cancelled.”

Oasis issue fresh warning over resale tickets

“Please note, Oasis Live ‘25 tickets can only be resold at face value via @Ticketmaster and @Twickets!” the band have said in a fresh statement, as fans try to get their hands on tickets to their reunion shows next year.

“Tickets appearing on other secondary ticketing sites are either counterfeit or will be cancelled by the promoters.”

Good news for one lucky fan

One fan who goes by the moniker Chicago Mike on X/Twitter has shared a screenshot showing he has successfully bought tickets to see Oasis play Croke Park in Dublin. Hopefully he’s not the only one... still seeing a lot of people struggling with the official sale websites.

Ticketmaster appears to be crashing for quite a few fans

I’m seeing a lot of screenshots from fans posting to X/Twitter where the Ticketmaster website, one of the official ticketing partners of Oasis for their 2025 reunion tour, seems to be crashing when fans try to pay for their tickets.

How to avoid ticket scams amid huge demand for Oasis 2025 shows

“Whenever there is high demand for music concerts or gigs, invariably unscrupulous fraudsters are there to take advantage,” said Tony Neate, chief executive at Get Safe Online. “When Oasis tickets launch for sale this weekend, don’t get caught out.

“Stick to official websites and platforms when buying the tickets - and only make payments via the platform you are using. Do not pay by bank transfer. And remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.”
