From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Coldplay has been chosen to headline Glastonbury 2016's Sunday night slot, making them the first act to ever headline the festival four times.

The band previously topped the bill in 2002, 2005, and 2011. Though this year's slot marks the band's only major festival appearance outside of Radio 1's Big Weekend, the group will also be undertaking a worldwide stadium tour in promotion of their new album A Head Full of Dreams in the coming months.

This includes two nights at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, one night at Hampden Park in Glasgow, and four nights at London's Wembley Stadium. Sure, Coldplay has become a largely divisive band in recent years; yet, this news is a reminder the group are still capable of landing widespread popular success.

The Glastonbury slot follows hot on the heels of the band's high-profile appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show, though viewers seemed to largely agree they'd been somewhat pushed aside in light of Beyoncé's incredible live performance of 'Formation'.

Elsewhere, the band are set to be awarded a Godlike Genius award at this year's NME awards; alongside a performance slot at next week's Brit Awards, taking place 24 February, in which they've been nominated both for Best British album and Best British Group.

The other headliners have yet to be announced, though possible candidates are Foo Fighters, Muse, Adele, and The Stone Roses.

Glastonbury takes place from Thursday 23 June to Sunday 26 June.
