The artist held a much-debated conversation with the newly elected president in August, in which she pledged her support while discussing issues including police brutality.
After the chat was shared online, controversial Republican commentator Candace Owens called Cardi “dumb” and “illiterate”, and condemned Biden for doing an interview with her.
Cardi responded at the time by pointing out her influence on millions of young Americans, many of whom would be voting for the first time.
She has now written a post on Instagram that reads: “Couple of weeks ago I was getting chewed up by Trump supporters over this interview especially by miss Candace [Owens] who has been degrading my name for 2 years straight.”
“Republicans like Candace, [Ben] Shapiro, Fox News made fun of me, talk so much s*** about me and my song ‘WAP’,” she said. “They said Biden use me as a pawn then weeks later we seen a list of rappers and artists that Trump was trying to reach out to and to pay for support a list that included my name.”
Cardi added that she simply felt it was important for her fans to get to know Biden and to encourage them to vote in the election.
“I’m so proud of all these celebs who use their platform and for the people who went out and voted,” she wrote. “We did it!”
Cardi congratulated Biden, and also his vice president Kamala Harris: “You made history!”
Hundreds of other celebrities have reacted to the news that Biden will become the 46th president of the United States.

Author Stephen King today (Monday 9 November) condemned incumbent president Donald Trump for refusing to concede his loss.
“You lost, you miserable self-entitled infantile f***er. Concede and get the hell out,” he tweeted.
When the results were first announced this weekend, the Carrie author had tweeted: “Sometimes… the good guys win.” In another post, he mocked the president’s famous catchphrase from The Apprentice, writing: “America to Trump: YOU’RE FIRED.”
The 73-year-old has long been a vocal critic of the president’s, having previously called him an “incompetent dumbbell” and stating that Trump is “worse than any horror story I’ve written”.
