50 Cent has retracted his support for Donald Trump, claiming that he has “never liked” the US president.
Last week, the rapper sparked uproar among his fans after declaring his intention to vote for Trump, stating that he doesn’t care that the president “doesn’t like black people”.
As reasoning behind his announcement, he cited a CNBC report (which is widely believed to be misleading) that claimed Joe Biden would tax 62 per cent of the wages of New York’s high earners if he is elected.
The rapper – real name Curtis Jackson – has since changed his tune following comments made by Chelsea Handler during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday (23 October).
“He doesn’t want to pay 62 per cent of taxes because he doesn’t want to go from 50 Cent to 20 Cent,” Handler told Fallon. “I had to remind him that he was a black person so he can’t vote for Donald Trump and that he shouldn’t be influencing an entire swath of people who may listen to him because he’s worried about his own personal pocketbook.”
Handler – who briefly dated 50 Cent in 2010 – joked: “I am willing to seal the deal in more ways than one if he changes his mind and publically denounces Donald Trump. I might be willing to go for another spin if you know what I’m talking about.”
50 Cent has since shared the clip, accompanied by a caption reading: “A what, another spin. F*** Donald Trump, I never liked him. for all I know he had me set up and had my friend Angel Fernandez killed but that’s history. LOL.”
Handler replied to the musician’s post, asking: “Honey – does this tweet [mean] we can count on a vote for you for @JoeBiden?”
The comedian added: “I’m happy to discuss this with you privately. My phone number is still the same. Your’s isn’t. I’ve tried calling you.”

Following his original announcement endorsing Trump, Handler had responded: “You used to be my favourite ex-boyfriend.”
She went on to offer to pay 50 Cent’s taxes. “Hey f***er! I will pay your taxes in exchange for you coming to your senses,” Handler tweeted. “Happily! Black lives matter. That’s you, f***er! Remember?”
