From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Vin Diesel has acquired the xXx franchise.

The actor – along with his production company One Race Films – teamed up with The H Collective to purchase the series from Revolution studios, who still own the rights to the first three films.

Alongside the announcement reports detailed that a fourth xXx movie is already in development, with D.J. Caruso once again direct, having previously helmed xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and Diesel returning as the leading character.

The three xXx movies have collectively grossed over $600 million and featured acclaimed actors such as Samuel L Jackson, Willem Defoe, Toni Collette, Donnie Yen, and Ice Cube.

H Collective CEO Nic Crawley said in a statement: “During my time at Paramount, I was lucky to be involved in the development and distribution of xXx: Return of Xander Cage.

“The response from the Chinese box office was unprecedented. Bringing the next instalment of the xXx franchise to The H Collective complements our diversified slate and mission to produce content for a global audience.”

Diesel – who will next feature in Avengers: Infinity War as the voice of Groot – now owns two major franchises, the other being The Chronicles of Riddick.

A fourth Riddick film has also been in the works for some time, titled Furia, with writer-director David Twohy developing the story alongside Diesel.
