At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

A new Wonder Woman sneak peek has been released teasing Kristen Wiig’s mysterious transformation into the film’s primary villain.

Bridesmaids star Wiig will take on a rare villainous turn in Wonder Woman 1984, which has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the sequel, she starts out as Barbara Ann, a friend and ally of Gal Gadot‘s lead character. However, she soon evolves into Cheetah.

What Wiig will look like as the character has remained a mystery throughout the film’s promotional campaign, though a recent toy leak seemingly let slip some details about her image.

“I don’t want to be like anyone,” she can be heard saying in the clip, before chillingly adding: “I want to be an apex predator.”

The clip arrives weeks before fresh information regarding the film is announced at an event called DC FanDome.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to Patty Jenkins’ hugely successful 2017 film.

It will be released in cinemas on 2 October, 2020.
