Rian Johnson has completed work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi meaning a brand new trailer can only be imminent.

The filmmaker announced that post-production on Episode VIII has wrapped commending his team for their efforts in bringing the Disney and Lucasfilm product to life.

While there are sure to be changes made in the run-up to release, the news means that fans can now truly get excited for the first sequel to JJ Abrams' Episode VII with less than three months to go.


In addition, a fresh batch of images featuring characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and new character Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) have been released, which you can see below.

Earlier this month, Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow was fired as director of Episode IX with Lucasfilm handing the reins back to Abrams following The Force Awakens in 2015.

John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac will all return for the new Star Wars adventure - which will also feature a Joseph Gordon-Levitt cameo - with events picking up exactly where the previous left off.

Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill recently shared an image of his character from the upcoming film sparking panic among fans regarding his fate.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released int he UK on 14 December 2017.
