Michelle Yeoh took home the Best Actress prize, becoming the first Asian woman and only second woman of colour to win the trophy. The film also won Best Picture, and Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for writer/directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.
Brendan Fraser cemented his comeback with a Best Actor win for The Whale, while Everything Everywhere stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan picked up Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
The night was not without controversy, with criticism aimed at Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with Malala and a painful encounter between model Ashley Graham and an “obnoxious” Hugh Grant.
Many also felt that Angela Bassett deserved the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The award instead went to Jamie Lee Curtis, prompting what many viewers described as a “real” reaction from Bassett.

Angela Bassett was seen comforting Austin Butler just minutes after being snubbed in her own category.
In one of the biggest upsets of the night, Basset was beaten in the Best Supporting Actress category by Jamie Lee Curtis for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Bassett was nominated for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Jameela Jamil calls out ‘extreme’ weight loss at Oscars
Jameela Jamil has called out what she perceived as “extreme” weight loss at the Oscars this year, accusing her fellow stars of using “weight loss injections”.
Posting after the awards ceremony on Sunday (12 March), the 37-year-old British actor wrote about how “weight loss becomes an Olympic sport during awards season”.
“The images last. But the methods aren’t sustainable, nor are they normally sustained, until the next awards season!” Jamil wrote. “Where again the images of ageless, weightless women are used as a tool of aspiration.”

Martin leads the 23-minute drama short as Lorcan, a young man whose mother’s passing reunites him with his estranged brother Turlough (Seamus O’Hara).

In an act of either self-preservation or complete unawareness, Don Lemon appeared to ignore Michelle Yeoh’s not-so-subtle dig at him in her Oscars acceptance speech.
On Monday (13 March) morning, during the CNN news anchor’s morning broadcast, he recognised Sunday’s (12 March) achievements as a “huge night for Asians and Asian Americans”.
However, Lemon failed to address what numerous viewers deemed to be an apparent critique aimed at him by the Oscar winner in her speech.
