The 92nd Academy Awards have begun at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Brad Pitt took the first prize of the night by being crowned Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.

The film industry's biggest stars have gathered at the ceremony to see who will win the film industry’s most coveted prizes, from Best Actor to the biggest award of the night, Best Picture.

Among this year’s nominees are Joaquin Phoenix, widely tipped as the Best Actor favourite for his performance in Todd PhillipsJoker, and Brad Pitt, who could win his first-ever acting Oscar for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Sam Mendes and his war epic 1917 are the hot favourites for Best Director and Best Picture, respectively, after the film swept both the Baftas and the Golden Globes.

If you're watching from home, there are plenty of ways you can keep up with all the action on TV and online.

The evening will be broadcast live on ABC in the US and on NOW TV and Sky in the UK.

Sky Cinema will air for the entire evening, beginning at 10pm in the UK with red carpet arrivals. The ceremony itself will start around 1am GMT.

For US viewers, the Oscars will be available to watch on ABC with red carpet coverage kicking off at 5pm PT/ 8pm ET.
