From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With work on Deadpool 2 in full swing, details have started flooding about what fans can expect from what is sure to be a high-octane follow-up.

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have confirmed the appearance of not one, not two but three original characters.

The other character who'll return is long-suffering taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni) who hesitantly befriends the Merc with a Mouth in the film.

Deadpool has become an unlikely awards contender following its Golden Globe nominations as well as nods from Producers Guild of America and Director Guild of America; it's strongly expected to be named when the Oscar nominations are announced on 23 January - helped somewhat by this 'For Your Consideration' video.

Deadpool's Oscars 'For Your Consideration' video pitch is (unsurprisingly) hilarious

The sequel is being directed by John Wick's David Leitch who replaced Tim Miller after he left the project due to "creative differences." While it looks like it'll feature a lot of characters - including the teased villain Cable - Reese and Wernick have assured fans it'll remain a solo outing.
