From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Before the film screened to the public, it was unknown whether Marvel would include a post-credit scene, as - after the credits rolled at pre-screenings - only the Marvel logo showed.
Thanks to the film's wide release, we now know there are two post-credit scenes: one mid-credits, and one post-credits. ** Detailed descriptions of both are below: if you wish to remain unspoiled then do not read **
The first post-credit scene is a continuation of the story and sees Captain America, Bucky and Black Panther settle their differences in Wakanda, further teasing the Black Panther solo film.
The second teases the return of Spider-Man. It features Peter Parker talking to Aunt May while he messes with his web-shooters (given to him by Tony Stark). Suddenly, one of them starts glowing red, with the Spider-Signal beaming out. The words ‘Spider-Man will return’ then shoot out on screen, teasing the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.
We can safely presume Tony Stark is calling on the young superhero to fight crime as Robert Downey Jr has been confirmed to appear in the solo film.
It’s notable that Marvel has chosen to ignore both Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, two films that hit cinemas before Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Meanwhile, Downey Jr has spoken about reprising his role as Iron Man in a fourth solo film and Marvel has confirmed that a Punisher Netflix show is in the pipeline.
