With Marvel’s Cinematic Universe having produced over a dozen commercial and critically successful films over the last few years, DC and Warner Bros. have some catching up to do.

Within the next four years alone, the studio will produce ten superhero films, including the likes of Wonder Woman, Justice League, and Shazam.

One of those upcoming releases is Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa in the titular role and with James Wan (Saw/The Conjuring/Furious 7) directing.

Finally, a release date for the film has been confirmed, the film pegged down for 5 October, 2018, putting it after the currently Untitled 27 July 2018 DC film, rumoured to be Ben Affleck’s solo Batman outing.

DC fans won’t have to wait too long to see Momoa’s Aquaman in action, though, as the character will debut in Zack Snyder’s Justice League next year. Queen of Atlantis - Mera - will also appear in the film, played by Amber Heard.

Recently, the villain of the solo Aquaman film was revealed to be Black Manta by various reports, while James Wan previously discussed bringing horror elements to the film.
