Britney Spears’s memoir is finally available to the public after pre-publication excerpts sent shockwaves through the entertainment world.

Ahead of its release on 24 October, Spears’s autobiography, titled The Woman in Me, appeared to accidentally go on sale in Mexico.

It is published by Simon and Schuster in the UK.

Among the biggest headlines to come out of the book so far are claims that Spears had an abortion while she was dating Justin Timberlake.

She also detailed the aftermath of their split, from the fallout from Timberlake’s hit song “Cry Me a River” to her fling with Irish actor Colin Farrell.

One subject that does not feature in The Woman in Me, however, is Spears’s recent divorce from ex-husband Sam Asghari after 14 months of marriage.

According to reports, Spears gave her final sign-off to Simon and Schuster mere weeks before it was announced that Asghari had filed for divorce, meaning she has “no right to demand any further changes”.

From Justin Timberlake to Sam Asghari: A timeline of Britney Spears’ relationships

In her forthcoming memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears is expected to reflect on some of the most pivotal moments in her life, including her relationships.

Over the years, the pop star’s love life has continued to make headlines. Most recently, her ex-husband Sam Asghari filed for divorce after only 14 months of marriage. Spears is also the mother of two children – Sean, 18, and Jayden, 17 – whom she shares with her second ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

Throughout her time in the spotlight, specifically during the Nineties and 2000s, Spears has been in some heavily publicised romances.

From Justin Timberlake to her now ex-husband Sam Asghari, here’s everything we know about Britney Spears’ relationships and rumoured romances.

Britney Spears songwriter debunks fan theories about ‘Everytime’ meaning

Spears’s 2003 song “Everytime” is not about her unborn baby with Justin Timberlake, as some fans recently theorised, the songwriter has said.

The “Toxic” singer, 41, who dated the NSYNC frontman from 1999 to 2002, reveals that she had an abortion during their relationship in her forthcoming memoir, The Woman in Me, which will be published on 24 October.

Since the revelation was published last week, fans have begun to wonder if “Everytime”, which has long been assumed to be about her relationship with Timberlake, also alludes to the terminated pregnancy.

However, according to Annet Artani, who wrote the song with Spears, the ballad was about their respective breakups – mostly Artani’s. It is not a reference to an unborn baby, she told TMZ.

Review: Adam White gives ‘The Woman in Me’ four stars

In his four-star review for The Independent, Adam White was taken by the palpable anger in Spears’s writing.

“This is a scorched-earth kiss-off to an incredibly dysfunctional family, a book so breathtaking in its rage that you can practically see the spittle on its pages,” he writes.

“It’s bleak, relentless and angry, a portrait of a woman no longer in the eye of the storm but surveying, dazed and indignant, the wreckage left in its wake.”

Britney explains why she loves speaking in a British accent

One of the more minor but no-less-interesting revelations from The Woman in Me comes when Spears explains her penchant for a British accent.

On numerous occasions over the years, the “Toxic” singer has broken into an English accent. The outbursts have previously left the singer’s fans feeling concerned.

However, in the book, Spears explains that she used to love mimicking her British grandmother.

“According to my mother, my grandmother Lilian ‘Lily’ Portell was from an elegant, sophisticated family in London,” Spears, writes.

“She had an exotic air about her that everyone commented on; her mother was British and her father was from the Mediterranean island of Malta.”

Is Britney Spears’ narrating the audiobook version of her memoir?

Michelle Williams narrates the audio version of Spears’s memoir after the singer admitted she’d found it too painful to “relive” her experiences once more.

Grammy winner Spears will read the book’s introduction, announcing in a statement shared with People: “This book has been a labour of love and all the emotions that come with it.

“Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook.”

She added: “I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it.”
