Forecasters said Tuesday would be a mild day, with outbreaks of rain in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland as the southern half of England and Wales remain largely dry.
“There’s a lot of fine settled weather with high pressure tending to dominate,” Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna told The Independent.
“Northern and western areas will tend to see cloudier skies at times with some patchy rain, but there will be a lot of settled weather around.”
Mr Petagna said rain would push north across northwest England and into parts of Ireland and Scotland overnight, with clear spells allowing pockets of fog and frost to develop.
On Wednesday, he said there would be “a lot of dry weather around” other than in Scotland, which will likely have some rain at times.
“After a murky start in places, then we’ll see some sunshine coming through, especially towards the south and southeast England,” Mr Petagna said.
“A mild day tomorrow. Temperatures could easily get to 12-13C in some places.”
Thursday could see temperatures up to 15C and a “very mild day”, Mr Petagna said.
He said England and Wales would see “a lot of dry weather and a sunnier day” while Scotland and Northern Ireland could become cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle.
The weather is set to become cloudier towards the end of the week with more wind and an increasing chance of patchy rain.
The Met Office forecast said Thursday and Friday would see early fog patches followed by plenty of sunshine.
Weather over the next month is likely to bring more rain, with more of a southeasterly wind developing through March which could bring colder air from the continent across the UK.
The Met Office said this could bring the potential for snow.
“Overall, temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above average, but with the continued chance of some colder spells,” their forecast said.
