Sir: Whilst there can only be the most heartfelt sympathy for the tragic loss of a young husband, as in the case of Diane Blood ("We planned a baby before he died. I want that back", 18 October), one deeply worrying aspect of such a case seems not to have been sufficiently addressed.
What has happened to death with dignity? Would Mr Blood, or any man, really wish that, alone in his unconsciousness, unknowing, helpless, totally vulnerable and close to death, his body was being intimately invaded and raided of that which is supposed to be donated as the ultimate act of love - not by the mechanical manipulation of a stranger. Am I alone in being deeply uneasy?
