Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

YOUR True stories from the Great Railway Disaster No 64, "So you want a reserved seat?" (7 April), is incorrect.

Alphaline services from London Waterloo to Bath, Bristol and South Wales have no seat reservation labels in order to allow seats to be reserved up to the time of departure from Waterloo, Clapham Junction, Woking and Basingstoke. There are notices placed in the saloons in English and French explaining this and advising passengers to sit in the seats shown on their reservation ticket (seat reservations are compulsory and free). This practice is identical to that of Eurostar and SNCF TGVs.

Another train operator services our trains at Waterloo and applies destination labels under contract, and is willing to place seat reservation tickets if we want them to.

Our nine conductors who work this service manage the train and seat reservation system highly competently and I am sure none of them made the comments claimed. We have had more letters of praise concerning this service than letters of complaint.
