Letter: End exploitation at home

While there is much to be said for boycotting shops and firms which make profits out of exploited and ill-treated workers overseas ("Short stirs up trouble for shops", 27 October), there are also firms who treat staff badly at home.

A consumer campaign may be the way to force the Government to reverse its hostility to the principles of the social chapter. Clare Short is right within the context of her portfolio but the same principles should apply at home. For overworked, underpaid employees it may seem an eternity until a general election.
