Your support makes all the difference.Perhaps Andy Beckett is right in suggesting that the future holds little for those who delight in painting upon canvas, ("Digital Art", Review, 29 September) and that computers will be the new purveyors of both support and pigment. But try convincing the huge number of "weekend" painters who exhibit in local libraries, church halls, and in the premises of local art clubs. I suspect that little will change for them. They will continue to paint vases of flowers, rural scenes, and beribboned cats. Digitalisation and other products of post-everythingism will pass them by. They are a breed for whom common abstraction is anathema, modernism an unknown land, computer art the dream child of chatterers.
