Letter: Some like it hot, but not that hot

Sir: The following must be the most effective short sermon (Letters, 4 May).

A Scottish bishop, on a blazing hot day, was present at a church in New York. The many-windowed church made the congregation wilt in the heat. Come sermon time and the congregation quailed. The priest turned round at the altar, paused and said, 'You think this is hot? OK. Be good]'

Yours faithfully,
