Your support makes all the difference.Sir: I have a fairly low view of human nature. It seems that people can exploit, degrade and dehumanise others in an infinite number of ways. Sebastiao Salgado's photographs (Section II, 15 December), are indeed uplifting. Many show amazing dignity and spirit in the face of extreme poverty. Some of the workers may well be the victims of contemporary slavery. I would like one of Salgado's photographs for Christmas. When I get depressed, the photograph would take me back to Brazil or India and to the people that I have met, and I would find again the anger to go forward.
