Sir: Excellent as both Blur and Oasis are, Bryan Appleyard ("In tune with the British way of pop", 16 August) is wrong to describe them as the "biggest thing in British pop". That honour goes to Take That, who, to use Oscar Wilde's memorable phrase, hit pubescent girls below the intellect.
