Sir: With regard to your article 'Dear Raver' (1 August) and J. Metcalfe's letter in response (5 August), it is the shock of an un- anticipated sleepless night which I find hard to tolerate. If neighbours warn of noise in advance, you can plan to go away, or at least not invite friends or relatives to stay on that particular night. However, the new laws against raves and other noisy gatherings make a kindly warning very unwise.
Yours sincerely,
C. KELTING
